Free Play & Arrival
Children begin their day with free play in the classroom. During this time, they choose from toys and learning centers such as blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, sensory bins, and art materials. This relaxed start helps children transition comfortably, build friendships, practice sharing, and develop independence.
Carpet Time (Circle Time)
We gather for carpet time to build classroom community and listening skills. We review the calendar and weather, sing songs, move our bodies, and listen to a story. These activities support early literacy, language, math concepts, and social development.
Whole Group Activity
We often complete a whole group activity such as a game, movement activity, or tracing/pre-writing sheet. These strengthen fine motor skills, following directions, and teamwork.
Snack Time & Classroom Jobs
Students take turns being assigned classroom jobs. Children do not have a job every day, giving everyone a chance throughout the year. Helpers use small pitchers to pour and pass out water while teachers distribute snack. This builds independence, cooperation, and confidence.
Learning Stations & Teacher Station
Children rotate through hands-on learning stations with manipulative bins supporting math, literacy, STEM, and fine motor skills. A teacher station provides small-group crafts or focused activities for individualized learning.
Gym Recess
We end our day with recess in the gym where children run, climb, and play games while developing large motor skills and healthy habits. Our goal each day is to provide a balance of play, structure, learning, and fun while helping children grow socially, emotionally, and academically
